Designing for Socio-Ecological Transformation

As active users of our built and unbuilt environment, we are expected to accept this as inevitable, even though there is no dearth of alternative design solutions, technical knowledge and expertise. What is lacking is a platform where stakeholders can collaborate to provide “Responsible Building” solutions at scale, by tapping into the growing public sensitivity on the importance of environmental stewardship.

To kick-start this socio-ecological transformation process, a vibrant group of established designers, architects, planners, social entrepreneurs came together and got exposed to a process that enables people to design initiatives that simultaneously in time solves problems, shifts systems and creates new patterns. The tools used in the training are meant to bring about a paradigm shift in the way the designers look at themselves; at complex systems within which they operate; and at ways of designing interventions for getting sustainable results.

The training took place on 10^th and 11^th June 2018, at TARA complex in New Delhi.
